Welcome one and all to our inaugural blog post! We’ve set up this new platform to serve you the latest news from the Shanghai front. Giving you all the info on upcoming internship opportunities, networking events, and happenings of Internship Network Asia and our great city of Shanghai, of course! There are so many interesting and fun events coming up in this city that are slated to go down starting from now until October next year!...Wondering what we’re talking about? – Think BIG!...Now think BIGGER!.... As many of you probably already know, Shanghai is hosting the 2010 World Expo, with over 220 Countries and Organizations participating from March – Oct, and a whopping 70million anticipated visitors (including 3.5 million international visitors), Shanghai is ready to hit the international spotlight. This is going to be a pivotal event for Shanghai, for China, and for our 2010 Interns! The Expo motto speaks for itself: “Better City, Better Life”.

For many of us expats who have been living in China going on a few years, we have seen the transformation in front of our very eyes, and it just keeps us in amazement – with new metro lines, skyscrapers, and entire areas of Pudong springing up in just a matter of months, this is like Shanghai’s version of Beijing’s 2008 Olympic Games. However, this time the Expo is having a direct effect on business, both local and international, with all eyes on Shanghai, this is going to be an epic time to be here – so the lucky interns of 2010 – GET READY! Another thing that’s all the hype this year are internships. With job placement out of University getting more and more difficult in places like the US – internships are becoming less of a nice padding to the resumes of motivated students, but rather, a way to bridge the gap between finishing College and finding a job. In many instances internships give people the opportunity to gain experience, have an inside glimpse into a potential career path, and often lead to full-time positions. So you can imagine our excitement at the prospect of combining these two relevant opportunities.
