Pablo, a student from Spain, with a great passion for arts has spent his afternoon , in Moganshan Road, the arts district of Shanghai.

Walking from the Zhongtan Road Metro Station on line 3, you will know that you are near Moganshan Road because of the graffiti along one side of the street.
This new Art industrial Park arts district was once a textile factory, now people call it “Moganshan” or “M50”. Since 2000, when for the first time a veteran local contemporary artist moved into M50, a lot of industrial buildings have been transformed into artist studios.  Nowadays this art district hosts over 80 Chinese artists and some international artists.
Some of the Chinese best-known artists work here, like Zhou Tiehai, the artist famous for his satirical works, Ding Yi, the most important abstract painter in China and Shi Lifeng, his red figures reflect the marginalized minority in the Chinese historical society.
The majority of the artists in M50 have participated in international exhibitions.
Spread in 21 buildings, graphic design offices, architectural workshops, media companies, movie television production firms and advertising agencies are settled down in M50. You can also find art design companies from places like England, French, Italy, Sweden.
If you’re interested in emerging artist, don’t miss to go to the building 4: the first floor is divided into several small spaces which are rented by young artists.
In the labyrinth of the art galleries you can also find a few clothing shops, mostly owned  by  young Shanghai fashion designers.
